Lissette Cudilleiro is very excited to join the Equitas Academy team as a third grade teacher this year! Lissette was born in Miami, Florida and was raised by her Cuban Immigrant parents. Both of her parents had to flee Cuba at a young age and were unable to attend college for several reasons. Because of this, they constantly instilled in her the importance of getting a college degree and the confidence that just because they could not get it, that she certainly could. With the love and support of her parents, she graduated from Florida International University with a bachelor’s in Special Education in 2012. Lissette taught 5th grade for two years in Miami before she moved to New York City to teach 3rd grade at a low-income school. There she realized the importance of providing a rigorous, nurturing, and structured classroom that prepares her scholars for college. She just recently moved to Los Angeles and is very excited to get to know this beautiful city. Just like her parents, Lissette has dedicated her life to helping her students on the path to and through college and making sure they understand that this is an attainable and attractive goal for them to pursue. She believes that college provides an opportunity for higher education and specialization but also it opens doors for greater success and confidence in life. Lissette is so excited to meet and build relationships with her scholars and their families at Equitas Academy.
