Ms. Hernandez has had a passion for teaching since a very young age. She believes that students should be preparing to attend college from the start of their education. Ms. Hernandez attended a charter school from K-12th grade and was planning to attend college after graduation. Being a first-generation student, she was the first in her family to graduate from high school and attend a 4-year private university. She attended Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona for two years. After two years, she decided to come back to Los Angeles to give back to her community. Ms. Hernandez has lived in the Pico-Union area for 22 years and wanted to stay in her roots and encourage students to purse the college route. She continues her education through Grand Canyon University majoring in Elementary Education to finish her last two years of college. She plans to receive her bachelor’s degree to start teaching a class of her own one day. Ms. Hernandez has joined the Equitas team very excited to prepare students to achieve excellence and values. She believes that all scholars will attend and graduate from a four-year college or university.
