After graduating from the University of California, Santa Barbara I started my career in education by serving a year in City Year (Americorps) in the Koreatown community of Los Angeles. During my time in CityYear,  I observed an Hour of Code that a teacher led there and immediately wanted to learn more about computers and computer science education. I quickly realized that there were few opportunities for students of color to learn about how computers work and how to become developers of technology. This inspired me to learn computer science myself and move to Silicon Valley for a year. At San Jose State, I worked with college students to create a coding outreach program for local youth.  I’m honored to be in the Pico-union community now and have the opportunity to share my passion for technology with our scholars. I love engaging scholars through technology and inspiring them to be creators of technology.
