After graduating with a bachelor's degree in English from UCLA in 2006, Jessica was accepted into Teach for America and began her career in education teaching high school English at a charter school in East Los Angeles. In that time she also served as department chair, induction coach, professional development coordinator, and received her master’s in Secondary Education from Loyola Marymount University.

In 2016 Jessica graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, and transitioned to an assistant principal role at Camino Nuevo Charter Academy, which serves the MacArthur Park and Pico Union areas.  She is thrilled to continue that work through Equitas Academy, as she is committed to serving the youth in these communities.

Jessica was born and raised in East Los Angeles, and currently lives in the City of Commerce with her husband, daughter, and two cats. Pre-Covid, her favorite hobbies included frequent trips to Disneyland, concerts, outdoor movies, shopping, and dining out. Presently her favorite hobbies include listening to Audible, watching The Office (again), playing Animal Crossing on the Nintendo Switch, and helping her daughter (a rising 6th grader), with her summer school work.
