Bio

Katie Sequen Vielman has always prioritized the emotional and mental health wellbeing of her students. She tries to accomplish this by creating supportive environments in which her students can thrive and feel safe. As a native of Los Angeles, who grew up in a traditional Latino household, she understands the importance of community and needing/receiving support from those around you. She believes that every individual, regardless of their socioeconomic background, color, or age, is entitled to emotional and mental health supports if needed.

Ms. Katie received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Spanish and a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Loyola Marymount University in 2016 and 2019 respectively. Previously, she worked as a Middle School Counselor at a neighboring charter school, where she was in charge of helping with both the emotional and academic well being of her students. There, she learned the value of providing and developing clear communication with her colleagues and striving to provide support in different facets not just academic. She understands that a healthy school culture and emotional supports serve as the foundation of a school and it is crucial to provide a safe learning environment for students.

In her free time Ms. Katie enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, enjoying all things Disney and traveling. She is excited to join the Equitas family at EQ Flagship.
