Mrs. Schiller is thrilled to be a part of the amazing Equitas team for her sixth year as the dean of instruction. She feels that the mission of Equitas aligns with her own educational philosophy and hopes to empower scholars to shape their own futures by graduating from college. She hopes to make a lasting impact on scholars and their families, and believes that one of the greatest gifts a teacher can give their scholars is a lifelong love and passion for learning. This is achieved when Equitas teachers and scholars recognize that the reward for learning is more knowledge. Mrs. Schiller graduated from the University of Oregon, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a minor in Special Education. After graduation, she joined Teach For America, a program determined to close the achievement gap. She also pursued her master’s degree in Urban Education at Loyola Marymount University where she specialized in literacy. Through her time at Equitas, she has learned that it is important for teachers to set high expectations knowing that all students have the ability to be successful if they are given the chance, support, and encouragement. In her free time, she loves to play with her dog, go to the beach, and explore the Los Angeles hiking trails.
