I joined the Equitas team as an Instructional Aide. I grew up in South Los Angeles and earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Global Studies with an emphasis in North America from the University of California at Santa Barbara. During my undergraduate years, I volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Barbara and Isla Vista Youth Project to help students enhance their skills in recreational activities, complete assigned homework, and have one-on-one attention from an adult. From a very young age I was fond of learning and school but I didn’t acknowledge my interests in education until I received feedback from my colleagues in a Human Resources role that I am patient, organized, and optimistic. I realized then that it would be best to apply these qualities in a position that entails support and constant improvement towards a better way of life, and I found that in Equitas. I am excited to work at Equitas and contribute to the mission of closing the education gap. I believe that every scholar deserves a superb level of education to create a bright future. My personal interests include going out for hikes, visiting local coffee shops, and trying DIY’s inspired by YouTube.
